Wind Energy Companies in India

As the calls for a non-fossil fuel-based economy grow, renewable energy is seeing a global surge in demand, prompting countries to invest in sectors like solar and wind.

Wind Energy

While solar leverages the power of the sun through solar panels, wind energy is a process of conversion of wind power into usable electricity by utilizing wind turbines.

In recent times, wind energy generation has seen a considerable push.  A report from the Global Wind Energy Council highlights increasing momentum in the growth of wind energy worldwide. The global wind industry installed a record 117 GW of new capacity in 2023, making it the best year ever for new wind energy. This represents a 50% year-on-year increase from 2022.

India is also on a stupendous renewable energy transition. In FY 2023-24, the wind energy installation grew by 3.25 GW, bringing the total installed wind capacity to more than 45 MW which is more than double ten years ago.

Here are the wind energy companies in India that are instrumental in this growth path.

Wrapping Up

Apart from the dedicated wind energy companies in India, there are players in the market that have wind energy in their portfolio, including Adani Green Energy, TATA Power, and NHPC.

India has many regions like deserts and mountains that offer good prospects for harnessing onshore wind energy. Then there are many large water bodies including a long coastline of about 7600 km, which provides offshore wind energy options.

So it is imperative that the production of wind energy grows and these wind energy companies in India play a crucial role in reshaping the country’s energy landscape.
