Startup India, HDFC Bank and Kerala Startup Mission are inviting applications for REACT, a grant program supporting innovations in Agriculture, Rural Economy, and Climate Solutions.
The grant program is open for all registered Indian startups in the agriculture, rural economy, or climate solutions space. The selected startups can receive grants up to Rs. 90 Lakhs (~US$ 105 thousand). The last date is 7th February 2025.
HDFC Bank grants are made under its Parivartan designed to empower startups that are tackling critical societal challenges while ensuring sustainability and scalability in sectors like clean energy, waste management, and marine ecosystem preservation. HDFC Bank Parivartan bridges the gap between ideas and essential financial support.
Kerala Startup Mission is the State Nodal Government Agency of Kerala that supports the startup ecosystem by connecting investors, industry, institutions, and government to build a model for moving fast from ideas to IPO.
Startup India is a flagship initiative by the Indian Government Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Launched in 2016, Startup India fosters innovation and creates a thriving startup ecosystem to drive economic growth and generate large-scale employment opportunities.
India is now the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world, with over 157 thousand startups recognized by DPIIT, with over 100 unicorns, redefining innovation and creating new opportunities across sectors.
Apart from major hubs like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi-NCR, smaller cities are increasingly contributing to the momentum with over 51% of the startups emerging from Tier 2 and 3 cities. Through initiatives like Startup India, the government has played a pivotal role in nurturing this growth and empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Given the climate situation and the environmental challenges like resource depletion and pollution, the role of startups is becoming increasingly crucial for solving them.
These startups focus on creating products, services, and technologies that minimize damages related to climate change and reduce environmental impact. They often aim to reduce carbon footprints, waste, and resource consumption, helping to preserve the planet for future generations.
Therefore, grant programs like REACT will accelerate the transition toward a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable future.
Beyond just funding, selected startups will gain access to mentorship, networking opportunities, and sector-specific resources to scale their ventures successfully.
