Blueleaf Energy received a $75 million investment from British International Investment (BII) to accelerate Asia’s transition to renewable energy, with the funds focused on projects in India.
A Singapore-headquartered renewable energy player owned by a Macquarie Asset Management-managed fund, specialising in the development, financing, ownership, and operation of renewable energy assets across Asia.
As an independent power producer, Blueleaf Energy’s portfolio spans solar (including utility-scale, floating, and hybrid solar fish farms), onshore wind, and energy storage solutions, with a focus on innovative, data-driven, and sustainable energy infrastructure.
Founded in 2019, the company manages projects from origination and site acquisition, through construction and financing, with significant operations and offices in India and other Asian markets.
Blueleaf Energy leverages various offtake solutions (Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), etc.) and robust ESG standards throughout project lifecycles.
The company continues to expand its workforce, frequently partnering with local partners, policymakers, and large industrial customers to advance the energy transition throughout Asia.
Their current development pipeline exceeds 7 GW, with over 2 GW of capacity built globally, including more than 500 MW in Asia Pacific countries such as Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, and India.
In India, Blueleaf Energy has partnered with Jakson Green to build gigawatt-scale solar projects in Rajasthan, utilising a Build-Own-Operate model and multiple long-term PPAs.
It is building a 560-megawatt peak (MWp) utility-scale power plant with ground-mounted solar panels for NHPC, with commercial operation anticipated in 2026. The company is also active in hybrid renewable energy projects, such as the 200 MW Pachora Hybrid Power Project in Madhya Pradesh.
In a unique collaboration in Southeast Asia, Blueleaf Energy has developed rooftop solar plants for Heineken’s beer-making facilities. This is part of Heineken’s “Brewed by the Sun” project, which is designed to reduce the environmental footprint of its production facilities by integrating solar power into its energy mix.
